Mirror Buying Guide & FAQ
Mirror Buying Guide
Discover everything you need to know about choosing the perfect mirror for your space.
Choosing the Right Mirror Size
The size of your mirror should complement the space and furniture around it. For above a console or dresser, choose a mirror that's 2/3 to 3/4 the width of the furniture piece. Full-length mirrors should be at least 48 inches tall to show your entire reflection.
Choosing the Right Mirror Shape
Mirror shapes can dramatically affect your room's aesthetic. Round and oval mirrors soften angular spaces and work beautifully in modern or traditional settings. Rectangular mirrors are versatile and ideal for creating the illusion of height or width. Arched mirrors add architectural interest and elegance.
Where to Place a Mirror
Strategic mirror placement can transform your space. Position mirrors opposite windows to maximize natural light. In entryways, place mirrors at eye level for a final check before leaving. Avoid placing mirrors directly opposite beds or facing main doors in accordance with design principles.
Leaner Mirrors vs Wall Mirrors
Leaner mirrors offer flexibility and can be easily moved or repositioned. They're perfect for renters or those who like to change their decor frequently. Wall-mounted mirrors provide a more permanent, polished look and save floor space. Consider your lifestyle and space constraints when choosing.
Caring for Your Mirror
Keep your mirror looking pristine with regular cleaning using a soft, lint-free cloth and glass cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar. Avoid harsh chemicals that can damage the backing. Clean the frame separately with appropriate materials. For antique mirrors, consult a professional for specialized care.

Choosing the right mirror size depends on the space where it will be placed.
As a general guide:
• Above a console or fireplace, the mirror should typically be around two-thirds the width of the furniture below.
• For hallways or living spaces, larger mirrors help reflect more light and create a stronger design feature.
• Leaner mirrors work well in bedrooms and dressing areas where full-length reflection is useful.
If you would like advice before ordering, our team will be happy to help.
To care for your mirror:
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth
- Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the glass
- Apply glass cleaner to the cloth first
- Wipe gently and avoid excess moisture on the frame
This will help keep your mirror looking its best over time.
